This customer called us after catching both nearside wheel entering a
car park in his Mercedes SLK Class. The wheels were not standard for the car but copies of the alloy wheels on the C Class. The scuffs weren't bad, however detracted from the appearance of a well looked after car and needed rectifying to keep the good standard of the car up.
The wheels have a chrome type appearance with less fleck than the normal Mercedes titan silver. A 50:50 mix of Mercedes titan silver and vicrom was used to match the existing finish.
Stripping/Powder Coating, Mercedes S-class
Theses wheels were stripped, refurbished and repainted in Mercedes Brilliant Silver - the OEM colour for mercedes alloy wheels and then powdercoated for additional protection.
Color Coding/Matching, Mitsubishi Evo
This job was undertaken for a customer who required a full alloy wheel refurbishment service to change the inside colour of the wheels from standard silver to golden bronze.
The wheels were stripped, before being media blasted to remove the existing coating. The wheels were given a gloss bronze powdercoat before being cured. We also painted the silver centre caps bronze to match the new bronze finish.
Major Pothole Damage, BMW M3 Volk Aftermarket Wheels
These are Volk Racing split rim wheels which were aftermarket on his BMW M3. The wheel had severe face buckle dent, The wheel was split into its component parts, and due to the centres corrosion was stripped, blasted and recoated in silver. Whilst this was taking place, the outer rim was straightened and polished using our metal polishing machine, eradicating any kerb marks, stripping the original finish and then buffing to a mirror shine. The wheels were bolted back together and returned to the car.
Curb Rash, Rim Buckle, Porsche Carrera
The wheel was damaged and caused severe damage to the tyre. The damaged area had some
aluminium welded into it to raise the area and then smoothed off with a sander. Once the area was repaired,
the wheel was stripped off the existing finish and then repainted in the original anthracite colour
(the colour you can see on the Porsche inner spokes). Once this had cured, the wheel is placed into a
CNC machine with a diamond tip and the face re machined. Once complete, the whole wheel is given a coat
of lacquer.
Wheel Coloring, Cadillac Escalade
The wheelface were a painted finish, The wheels were removed from the car, and the tyres deflated
before the bead was broken. This gave us access to the wheel rim. The wheel face was stripped, and
prepped for paint. Once prepped, the whole wheel face and part of the rim was primered, painted and then
lacquered a bronze/gold color,
before the tyre was inflated and the wheel returned to the car.
Lease Return, Audi A8
This Audi's 30 month lease was up and if Audi saw this wheel, they would charge $350 to the lessee.
The wheel was refurbished using the same colour code used by Audi in the factory to ensure the
alloy wheel matched the other wheels on the car. This was accomplished in a day.
Pothole Damage, BMW Z
The outer rim of the wheel was bent inwards, causing the tyre
to lose pressure and also making the car dangerous to drive. The wheel was straightened
using a mixture of heat and specialist tooling, and the wheel is now the correct
shape and safe to use on the car!
Rim Buckle - Interior, Ford Mustang Aftermarket Wheels
The wheels are a two piece split rim and in order to repair the buckled rim the wheels
required splitting. The wheel face bolts into the rim, so this was removed by undoing the bolts. Once the wheel face
was out, the rim of the wheel was straightened, polished and then given a coat of lacquer.
The wheel face was then bolted back into the rim, and the wheel returned to the car.
Wheel Refurbishment, BMW X5
A previous refurbishment done on the cheap let the condition of this BMW X5's wheels down. The wheels had seen a "blow in" - common on cheap refurbishments and often fail due to the nature of the repair.
With this process, just the damaged area is repaired, and blow into the rest of the wheel. Over the course of time, the paint starts to peel back and looks unsightly. As we always paint the full face of the wheel on our mobile wheel refurbishment service, this never happens!
Wheel Refurbishment, Renault Megave
The wheels were originally a diamond cut finish and due to scuffing water had penetrated the
lacquer causing it to lift. As he required his car on a daily basis, having
the wheels re cut using our diamond cut service wasnt an option so the wheels were
removed from the car and the faces repaired. Once corrected, the full faces were
painted in sparkle silver, not the original colour, but a colour chosen by the
customer from our range of silvers. The wheels were finally given a coat of UV
lacquer and cured in our UV oven.
Curb Rash, Mini Cooper
The wheel had been heavily kerbed and as a result much of
the profile had been removed. We rebuilt the profile of the wheel with some weld.
Once the profile was rebuilt, it was shaped using specialist tools so that the
design of the wheel was returned. Once this was complete, the rim polished and
repainted. This wheel had a high power silver
finish, and this involved a different paint finish to our normal refurbishments.
The wheel was first painted black, then a silver paint was applied to achieve a
finish matching the original. Once this was done, a clear lacquer was applied.
Color Coding, Mini Cooper
This customer called us wanting the wheels on her Mini Cooper refurbished.
Instead of opting for Silver, the customer opted for a change of colour and decided on white!
The wheels were suffering from the usual kerb marks, and slight corrosion around the centres.
The wheels were removed from the vehicle, tyres deflated and dropped from the rim. The face
was made good, repairing all the damage, and then given a coat of primer. 2 coats of the correct
Aspen White paint were appplied, before a coat of lacquer and the wheel cured. The tyres were
reinflated and the wheels returned to the car.
Kerb Damage, Audi Q7
As the only company in the area to offer a diamond cut service, we were called upon
to arrange getting the wheels back to A1 condition. The wheels were removed from the car, the tyres taken off.
The wheels dipped and blasted before given a fresh coat of paint. The wheel face was then diamond cut by CNC
machine to ensure the correct profile is cut, before a coat of lacquer over the whole wheel.
